my reflection

When I was in the 8th grade I woke up the day before school started and said to myself I will do better this school year. I will try to get all A's this year I will not fail anything this year. I will try to do better. Then I found myself at graduation with one "A" and I was proud. My plan didn’t work out because I was too lazy to do the work but I wanted to get really good grades. Now I find myself in high School about to pass the 9th grade with honors. When I first started going to Parkway West High School I though that high school would be horrible. I thought that the teachers didn't care and would let you fail and idly stand by. But as I have been here I see that that isn’t the case. I see that they really do care and that has made a change in me to want to do better and try not to be lazy. I really want to understand what I am learning and not just pass and not have earned or learned anything. I see a change in my attitude towards education in its self and the educational system in its entirety. I am more disciplined and have more self control because of this experience and have a more education central look on my future. I have also made more friends that are there to up lift me and help me to get better grades. They have helped me to become a rounded person with better views and a better over all person. I believe that this experience made me grow up and mature and become more like an adult in some ways. I think that this lesson was a good lesson learned and it will stick with me and I will not go back into bad habits. I think that this has opened my eyes to how important not only education is but being and over all good person. I think that I am on my way to being the best person I can be.

boy locked in washer machine

I read an article on a little boy that was locked in a washer machine because of a joke at first but then it became serious because the cycle started and the boy was still in the machine.  The man that the little boy was with didn’t know that the machine was fully paid for the cycle and so when he closed and locked the door the cycle began. There is video of the whole thing on this page. Andrea Taylor said, “this is unacceptable they put this child in real danger that could have killed him this is not cool. This little boy was only one years old and one wrong move he wouldn’t be alive.’’ I agree with Andrea she is totally correct these people who were watching his child were being totally irresponsible they could have killed that little boys. It is sad that he was with adults and one being his parent and he was still put in danger. I think that that a should not be trusted with that child anymore and until he really proves himself to being responsible he should not b promoted to being along with his son. Even if this was a practical joke this was not funny who would put their child in a washer machine even if they knew it wouldn’t turn one. No responsible parent think. Khadidrah said, “I think it is crazy watt had a happened to that little baby boy.” I think that there should be serious repercussions to this. Behavior like this from adults with children is totally inappropriate and dangerous. 

more african americans and minorities on TV shows

This article was about their being a lot f white or Caucasian people on TV shows and their not being more minorities as main characters in mostly all of our television shows. This article is about how it should be made normal not just to see a white person as a lead character or as a really prominent character. But we should see all different kinds of people from all different walks of life. People should be able to relate tithe people they see on the television show. People should essentially see themselves all the time on the TV and is movies. I believe that this is true and that their should be different kinds of people on these shows and we should be able to say that their are more African American, Asian, Hispanic, or islanders on shows and movies that are seen all around the world people need to know about other cultures and they shouldn’t think third is just one kind of person that can do what we see in the movies or in these TV shows. We should have it be common for people of all races be on out magazine cover, TV shows, movies, and even the people we see performing, I think that with them not doing this their is an unrealistic lens that we create that makes the world seem like their is only mainly one kind of person in it. Andréa Taylor said “ we need more Blacks, Italians, Asians, and Hispanics on these TV shows, they only have white people on them” I agree with her.

I read on article on this I believe about a man who looses all sense of seeing humanity in people. He has been personally miss treated. This made him "cynical and mean". He has been deported from his home country among other mistreatments. He lost faith in people and their humanity and their goodness. But then after this he finds the good parts of life and not the negative. He then fined that people can be sweet and caring. They can help and be protective and want to help other people for humane reasons. After he finds this he finds that he doesn’t have to be as mean of a person and that he can be nice and can be a persons friend and trust that they will not let him down. I have the same feeling that no one really cares about anyone else. They only care about them getting ahead in life or what they can gain from a situation. People can be mean and cruel and can be very hurtful and ignorant. But I think that when you really dig deep into people we have god parts as well. Just cause we sometimes only show the bad parts and we really hurt people. But I don’t believe all people are wicked I know we do bad things but we all still try to help or have tried to help things in the only way we know how. If we want things to be better and if we think that it will help someone or people or something weather it be right or wrong it is totally dependent on our knowledge and our experiences. article

I think that it is cool that people can protect themselves with guns when necessary. But I do think that their should be strict guidelines went it is and is not appropriate. Having guns and firing them at will is not appropriate and the fact that it is so generalized to have a gun registered or not and keeping one on you at any time is scary. People can become reckless when angry nod if they have a weapon on them many situation in my option the probably could have been resolved through an quick argument and never seeing or talking to that person again wail now result in deaths because the gun was just simply their at their disposal. People should be able to have a gun and officers should be able to carry guns on them. If we let people carry guns at any time and any way they want it put then on the level of an officer and it gives them the perception that they age capable of doing thing the shouldn’t. Though this fashion statement is very stylish and trendy the message that it is sending is wrong Alisha reed said “ this is amice trend it is cute I like it but this something that I would have to think about. This may change society very drastically” I agree this stuff that is going on may change peoples perception of safety and who is safe. This is a huge topic with many different options.

health fair blogg

We had a health fair at Parkway west. This Health Fair had many different booths that touched on different topics surrodinging not only teenage health but health in general. There were booths galore that ranged from STDs, to eating healthy and everything in between. The familiar and reoccurring topic was awareness and protection. They gave out many pamphlets that were about, healthy eating, pregnancy, adoption options, and drugs. They gave out condom and lubricant and they preached that having intercourse is okay and everyone does it. The only bad thing is when you don’t protect your self from the potential harms that can come from it. Many kids really didn’t like taking the condoms and others were comfortable with discussing sex and the ways to protect your self. There were instructions that told you how to used each product they gave you. I think that it is nice that people care about how children are acting and what they are doing to their bodies. I feel good that if I need help bout and type of health and anything that I might fear I might be doing bad thing to it I can talk to someone that can really help the situation. I also think that we should have a health class because people are doing this and do not know what they are getting into I think that one day f spreading health awareness is not enough I think that we need to have an active class about it at least once a month that informs about new contraceptives and new opinions about what is realty to kids today. 

Tami Roman's mild heart attack

This article was about the reality star Tami Roman suffered a mild heart attack. Tami Roman is one of the stars on the hit reality shown "Basketball wives". Tami Roman, 41, was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for a medical emergency room. She reported being under the weather and said she was fine and is on the road to recovery. I think that Tami is blessed and should be thankful for her life. But she was fighting one of the co-stars on the show with her and that would not help the way she was feeling. Also Tami is a very loud and boisterous person and is usually apart any drama that is going on the girl. Also Tami might exaggerate why she was admitted to the hospital. She might just be doing this for publicity and to get money or discovered off of this. Also I think that basketball wives are really mainly about drama and that that’s what the show cell. But many people have an idea that maybe some arguments might be played up for the camera and they wonder is their favorite stars life’s really as dramatic as they portray them on the show. I think the fight that Tami had might have been doing more for the camera and may be trying to make her life seem more sad and dramatic. Though I don’t think Tami is lying that there was something wrong with I think that she just wanted to make a few extras dollars off of it.

This article on empower 3000 was about a wail that performs at an aquarium but she is apart of an endangered species. People are putting in bills, the are appealing that she be set free. But the law says that and the setting free on an animal mean that the animal has to be declared endangered before the animal is captured. But I do think that this law should be changed because just because an animal is declared endangered after the animal was captured that doesn’t make the animal any less endangered. I think that Lolita should be set free and if not she should be mated and they should try and make more of that species. They should help Lolita and try to prevent the endangerment of her species and if that means letting her go than they should. No animal should be locked or captivated and they should let all of them go. But in the case of Lolita they really should find a way to help the endangerment of their species because if that specie aces die out it could start a chine of reaction that could prove to be more fatal than losing money. Andrea Taylor said “ I believe that Lolita should be set free and that it is not Wright for them to do that to any animal.” I agree with area as I have said before she should be set free and if she is not set free than they should try and mate her to save her species.

This article is about the reasons why women might b having their children outside of marriage or under 30. The article gave different examples of why people might be having their children so younger and why less people every ware are not getting married. This article says things like people are not getting married because women can fend for them selves and they don’t need a boyfriend or a husband. Sex is not a big conflict and people are more excepting of people being together and they are nit married. People can have a child and not feel pressure from their families to marry the person that they had the child with. Many people are not from two parents household. A lot of children just live with their mother. It is normal for a mother to have a child in a single parent house hold. The article talked about the majority of marriages and kids that come from to parents house hold ten to be more educated and they finished college. I think that people don’t care about who they are with anymore. They don’t think sex is sacred and it praised for younger men to lose their virginity. I also think that males are pressured to have sex and to do things like that from their piers and maybe siblings and sometimes even their fathers. So I think they put pressure on females to do it. Sex is something that is publicized from things like jersey shore. Sex is a way of life and if you aren’t doing it then u aren’t cool.

This article was about a women that went to a sociologist to get help on why u she was feeling bad about herself and he boundaries she makes in her life she looked to her childhood and how she felt about it she quickly disregarded her own feelings saying that it was disrespectful and unappreciative of her to feel that way or speak about her parents that way. The sociologist said that this was her emotional abuse as a child rearing its ugly head back into her lie and her abuse as a child is the reason she feels that way she does about her self. Worthless. I think that abusing children is horrible no kid should be hit at all much less mentally or physically abused. Kids are innocent and they don’t deserve to be hurt. Mental abuse is a big problem to it can really harm a person and make them less functional as a person. They have to carry the burden of what someone else did even thought the did nothing to deserve it. Kids can blame themselves and think that there s something wrong with them and so that is why their parents hate them. Things from their abuse situation can spill into other things in their life. This can make them feel isolated and different even though they are not. I think that parents that hit their children have not fully matured and people and that a person that can abuse their child has serious mental issues and care crazy they are horrible and should not be allowed the blessing of having a child.

It was about companies can be discriminatory because of searches; statuses and other things people may have done in the past. How they get this information is buy buying it from Google, and yahoo, also other sources? I am concerned about this but I am also no concerned. I am concerned that their is no privacy on my account and I think that it is very stupid for them to even make you have a” private account and even make you have a password and log in. if they are just going sell you privacy anyway why make me think I have it. They re just going to let you private information be read and seen by the people that really can make you life hard and or difficult for you such as banks, and jobs (companies0. But I am not very concerned because as this information becomes more popularized about what I write and more people know that this is happening action will probably happen against it. Before I read this article I honestly thought that my information that I wanted to stay private would stay private. Thought that is not the case I doubt that I will delete any of my online profiles or browse more carefully because it I wrong for them to spy on me and they should not have any type of opinion about me before meeting me and it is not my responsibility to take the caution that comes with being wrong its theirs.

I read about an article that was about a train that killed 49 people and injured 600 people in Argentina. The reason for this crash was largely speculated to be from the dilapidated and over grow rail services and fault brakes. There were more than 800 people who were on the train when the train had crashed.” The train (car) was incrusted inside the other ... the seats were gone, they disappeared, and people were jumping out the window," the young man said from the article. The majority of the damage was reportedly in the first two cars. When the train was reaching the station the train was going 16mph. many peoples live were interrupted b this train full of commuter train. I think that these people dyeing is very sad people were on here probably trying to make money or something and they were killed. I think that it is a big problem that the government knew about the conditions of these stations and they have done nothing-poor country or not. I think that the safety of the people should always come first and in this situation I believe they have not done that. I think that because of this all of the stations in Argentina should be inspected and they should be modified if needed so more people will not have to loss their lives due to carelessness. I think that if they do this that it will gain them respect from the people who ride the trains. This situation was sad and anything that needs to be done should be done in order for this not to happen again.

we are all criminals

This article was about how all people are criminals and that we should not treat people who got caught differently. People who get caught doing criminal actions can have the opportunity to vote taken from them; it can be hard for them to get jobs. And normal justices like that taken from them. She is saying that people should not be discriminated because of their criminal past because everyone has committed some type of crime its just a matter of them getting caught. I think that some of the things she is saying are true. That everyone committed a crime that is true.  I don’t think that people should discriminate against people who committed petty crimes or things that people do all the time because that is hypocritical but I don’t think that people who have committed crimes that are extremely dangerous should have the same rights as people who have not committed crimes they have been caught. I think that people who have killed other people or have robbed a bank or something extreme like that should not have many rights because they people that commit “normal” everyday crimes are normal everyday people and would not commit the crimes that people who kill people would. They are not crazy but people who would kill people multiple people doesn’t not deserve to vote or get out of jail I believe that people who show no type of criminal intent and were just making a mistake should not have everything taken from them

peopel were saying that the pictures tht were redone should have a label that says that the pictures in basically fake. thoug this does not go the same for pictures that had minimal work the ones that only had a pimple covered up or somthing this policy will only be for pictures that have had that and major rconstuction. but i agree with what they are saying it i not good for people to see photos of things they can not attain. it will just make them feel bad that they cannot be that size. people who do are stars and people who are being pertraind as  normal everyday person should not be able to have a look or a size that is not normal or not theirs.   Emajah johnson said “it’s ok if it isn’t hurting anyone but once it does it isn’t ok anymore.  I don’t think that it’s ok to write if the pictures are tampered with because it’s embarrassing.” I don’t agree with wat emajah said because it is always hurting someone.             This article is about the conditions that apple and some other stores have for their workers. It talks about the many deaths and injuries that happened due to these working conditions. It also talked about all of the negative publicity that stores like Nike and coca cola were getting because it got out. Also it talked about that if apple were to change their ways as they said they did other companies would fallow and do the same. What was happening was that the dust from the shinning of the iPod cases was not being properly ventilated. This problem is a very easy problem to fix. I think that the things that are happening to these people but I don’t think that many people or me will stop buying apple products. They are the best on the market. I think that there is a lot that people can do to help the people that has gone through this. But I also don’t think that these factories should shut down. I think that these factories are creating jobs for poor people and that is the only way they can get money. I feel that all the changes that can happen should happen and there is not excuse for the laziness of apple on this subject of people losing their lives. But apple is helping the people out with out these jobs the people would be ably to afforded any of the things they need. The bottom line is that the reason why these people work in these conditions is very clear and knowing there what they go through how can we just take their lively hood away.

This article is about how a 34 year old self proclaimed teen advocate is saying that teenagers have not changed from their parents when they were teenagers. She is saying that we go through the same things. Also that parents should not limit the amount of time their teens are on the internet. She also thinks that many stereo types about teens being online are totally not true. Such as if a teen is talking to an adult online that that adult hast to be a pervert. She also says that because parents do not want their children to roam around that actual world they should let them roam around their virtual one. She thinks that children she be online as long as they need. she also says that the internet has helped her tremendously in there life and that the internet can be a great source for information, support, and help when they cant get it from anyone else.  I agree with some or the things dr.boyd is saying in this article. I agree that tens should be able to roam around the internet freely. I also do agree with her statement that since children aren’t able to roam Around there world they should be able to get access about it from the internet. But I don’t really agree that children should not at all be monitored I mean to a certain existent because as she said children need privacy but they should still have guidance in what they are doing.

teaching kids how to break up

This article was mainly about teens that break- up and the manner in which they break up. Also it is about the health of the break up and how if it is on face book or online it is unhealthy. This article included quotes from kids and they talk about all kinds of relationships. Such as the 19-year-old girl that’s girlfriend broke up with her after she confronted her about why she changed her relationship status to single. This article also talked about some celebrity relationships. For example the story about Ronnie and Sammie from jersey shore. They did not at all break up the way people their age should have. I think that the face book and online breaking up topic is a huge issue. Kids are really being hurt from this. The things that happen are unfair and people should not be traded like that. I would want something like this to be in every school so people could know how they are hurting people. These people are really messing with people’s hearts. Also kids go through enough in high school. Some kids are suicidal and them getting embarrassed on the internet superbly inform of their friends might be their last straw they might kill themselves or hurt other people because of the pain they have been put through. Going through this seminar would be good for anyone nothing bad could really come from it only shows a different side of a story a different perspective. So people if they really care about the person they can no how to respectfully break up with them.

This article was about how because of budget cuts that has caused them these schools to make drastic changes to the schooling and the school week. This school in South Dakota is making their school week one day shorter they are making their school week a day shorter. They are extending the mount of time that the kids spend in the classrooms during the day that they will be in school. They added 30 minuets and they made their lunchtime and gym time shorter to make more time fir learning. Many people did not agree people said that they kids will suffer because they are missing a whole school day. But all of the schools that have done this have not had any differences in their grades they have not visibly been affected. Khadidrah Simmons says" I would just rather have the extra day cause that is a lot to be added on for one day of no school. I would not want for this school to adopt that." I in agree with khadidrah she is right. In the end we have the same amount of hours in school. It’s just that now its being piled on the other days and it is making the normal school day different and abnormal. It is sad that they have to go to school so much also I do think that if you take a whole day out of the school week you will learn less. Especially the kids who are not in high school they learn bye repetition and they need every chance they can have it. This change will also be bad for teens they will have a whole day every week were they will be home alone and their parents will be at work and the day it is the day before the weekend they might do crazy stuff because they aren’t in school.

The biggest news of 2011 had to have been the announcing that Osama bin laden was killed by us army officials. The story was told that they found Osama bin laden in hiding some were in mansion right outside of abbottabad in northwest Pakistan. I read an article on this incident on www.ibtimes.com. It was called "were was Osama bin laden killed?” the reason that I feel that this incident is the biggest one in 2011 is because we have been fighting with irak for a very long time and us capturing and killing Osama has made the ending of the war possible. Also because the speech that Obama made was subject to comedy. People all over America were making their own videos and quoting his "swagger" about the situation. Also because this huge milestone happened while we had an African American president the first in history. The person that organized the purposeful killing of hundreds of innocent citizens. 911 were the worse tragedy that happened in the United States in my opinion.  Also since the military had been looking for Osama for almost 10 years. When they finally found him hiding is a home in Islamabad. They killed him. Also the killing of Osama had been the subject of conspiracy. Some people thought that Osama is not really dead and that they either they caught the wrong person or they faked his death to finally put an end to every thing that had been happening with the United States and irac. For all of theses reason the killing of Osama bin laden is the biggest story of 2011.
